Itinerary

Day 1: Cusco - Mollepata - Soraypampa - Humantay Lake. We start at 4

30 AM with pick-up in Cusco and a drive to Mollepata for breakfast. We begin the trek to Soraypampa and take an acclimatization hike up to the stunning Humantay Lake. Overnight in camp.

Key Point

Day 2: Soraypampa - Salkantay Pass - Chaullay. The most challenging day. We will start very early, ascending to the highest point of the trek, the Salkantay Pass (4,600 m), enjoying incredible glacial views. Then we will begin a long descent, entering the high jungle towards the Chaullay campsite.

Key Point

Day 3: Chaullay - Playa Sahuayaco - Santa Teresa / Lucmabamba. We will hike along trails full of lush vegetation, waterfalls, coffee plantations, and orchids. We will learn about local coffee cultivation and enjoy a warm tropical climate.

Key Point

Day 4: Lucmabamba - Llactapata - Hidroelectrica - Aguas Calientes. We will ascend a section of the original Inca Trail to the Llactapata complex, where we will have our first distant view of Machu Picchu. We descend to Hidroelectrica and hike along the train tracks to reach Aguas Calientes, where we will spend the night in a comfortable hotel.

Key Point

Day 5: Machu Picchu - Cusco. The peak day. We will take an early bus up to the sacred citadel of Machu Picchu for a 2.5-hour guided tour of the most important sites of the world wonder. In the afternoon, we take the return train to Ollantaytambo and then a bus back to Cusco.
